Not good at all, first thing you need to do is check the water quality and post the readings, second, start getting ready to treat with antibiotics and treat those sores. It appears to be a combination of ulcers and mouth rot. Probably a good idea to start doing 50% water changes and keep the salt level up around 3-6%.
You have al the signs of both an aeromonas infection in your pond as well as mouth rot your possibly going to need either a gram negative r gram positive antibiotic from your vet but you need to take him a number of swabs to asertain which infection it is .
When was the last time you did a waterchage and maintenance as this could have been aviodable .
Well I was not going to post because this is really really sad.
From the looks of things
I bet there is no filter in those tanks, If there is they are very under powered.
There is no real maintence going on hell you don't even have plants gravel something in there.
From the size those tanks are to small for those fish and with no filtration water movement air that babie should not be there either.
You should be a great human and give those koi to someone who knows what they are doing and will take care of them if it is not to late.
Or have a heart and love them enough to put them down and not surfer any longer.
please please get more experience or ask for help before it gets this bad.
I completely agree with the last poster I have never in all our years of koi keeping seen such a sorry sight as these , had I lived next door to you I would have offered to take them in but I doubt it would do any help they look to far gone for this .
Please stop and think for a moment these fish should not be in such a state as these .
I recomend you go away and buy yourself a book on koi health which you should read cover to cover front to back twice before you even attempt to keep fish let alone koi.
Please dont think either Ruben Miranda or ourselves as being nasty to you I can assure you we are not but its quite obviousyou dont know what at the moment your doing
It'd be better to go away read and then once you've taken things in and understood them to try again there are people such as Ruben and ourselves plus many other good folk on this site who could themn Mentor you so that these mistakes are never seen again in yout pond or tanks.
Should you wish to euthanize these poor koi may we suggest you put 10 mg of Oil of cloves into a bucket containing 2 gallons US of water place your sick koi one at a time into the bucket , the koi will then go to sleep add further amounts of oil of cloves at 10 mg each time if they wont go completely under .
I can assure you they will gently pass away
I would like to thank everyone for the advice. I purchased one of the fish shown from a local pet shop. At that time the fish had a small sore around the mouth area. I asked the young lady working there about the sore , she told me at that time the fish came in that way. Within a three day period the sores spread to three other fish in my tank. I should have read up on the sores but instead I turned to what I believed to be a community of knowledgeable friends for some quick answers. Again thank you for all the advice, be blessed in all you do.
I'm a little worried if you say these fish came down in Days and the last photo if you note the sunken eye it could well be something very serious at what temperature were the koi at please?
I say this as the only koi I've ever come across with that sunken eyed look has to be KHV however I could be well wide of the mark here it depends on alott i;e temperature for one as you only see it at higher temperatures
I would if the koi with mouth ulcer was mine treat it myself but if the sales assistant sold you the koi with the mouth rot take it back and complain as they had no right to sell a fish in such a state the dealer ship would have known that had it in QT and not for sale to the public unless they are employing someone who doesnt know their job
Hello
Well you probably thing I am a bad person (I would use another word but to keep it clean)
But I am a upfront kind of guy and I see and read this so much that I just go off, But my words are true in what should be done.
By the look of those fish I am surprised they are still alive.
So what have you done
Water changes ? This would help a lot make sure you use declor
Have you tested for ammonia or nitrites ? If you do have ammo or nitrites you need to get ammo lock are start at least 25% water changes I would do 50% but that is just me. and I would do this everyday.
The cleaner the water the fish will heal faster and better.
What kind of filtration are you using if any. ?
What size are these tanks or are they in the same tank is they are I hope they are not with your healthy fish I would not even have them close to the healthy fish in fear of transfer of this rot.
To me it looks like fin fish rot do to bad water conditions or a combination of both a disease and not so great water and the fish are weak and are succumbing to the disease.
I also would like to ask I see a heater in there or one of the tanks are these fish out side or something
Koi are cold water fish and actually do better in cooler water plus if this is a disease it will grow faster in warmer water. Just a heads up.
It has been a couple of days are they doing better have you tried anything that was said in the post before mine ?
you asked we helped of you dont like being a few home truths then you shouldnt have asked . Personally I think you'll get the same result elsware as well . You should go back to the net an ask other forums if you wish they'll all tell you the same , stick around you may learn somthing .
