hi,
ive recently purchased 2 new koi fish, all the fish seem to be going to one corner near the surface and sometimes roll on their side. Ive cleaned the filters, pump and changed the water and this is still happening does anyone know or have an idea as to what the problem is?

thanks mike

Going to the surface and rolling on their side is not normally a good sign. That both fish are doing it points to water quality. Hard to really tell without seeing the actual behavior.

The possible causes are just about endless. Was there chlorine in the source water?

Step one is test the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, KH, GH, and pH. Here are some videos from a vet that provides some good starting info.

If they're new they're probably just stressed, not sure I would point to water quality for new fish. Definitely could be a disease or parasite, or just simple stress. Did you quarrantine them? If they're still in QT, I would darken the room and leave them alone for 8+ hours. They should calm down a bit in that time.

However, definitely test your water just to make sure, too easy to test just for the peace of mind that it's not the water.

I asked a mate of mine who used to run a koi company and he said that it was due to thge weather as we have had a lot of rain yet its being warm, i have had the fish for about a week now and its all of them that are at the side so not just the new ones. When i put the new ones in they were fine and then suddenly in the past few days they have been acted strangely.

thanks for the help so far guy i just hope that the problem gets solved and i dont loose any of the fish

I've seen that as well, they don't stress out immediately, they act fairly normally for a day or two then all of a sudden it occurs to them they are in strange water.

Kind of confused that rain and warm wether makes fish go sideways. I think I'd get a second opinion on that.
