Hi Guys
I have a 2m x 3m wildlife pond in the back garden at my home in Lincolnshire UK. It is filled from a rainwater overflow from rain butts by the house. The water is very clear, plants are growing well, tadpoles are numerous, lots of pond weed, 50% water lily cover, 50% sun, it’s now about 3 years old and a real joy.
I have noticed that when water is trickling into the pond from the water butts hundreds of tadpoles congregate by the entering water stream. Why is that?
Is it because the water is clearer, warmer, more oxygenated, flowing . . . . . . . Whatever it is they seem to like it. So why is it more attractive than the rest of the pond water?
Best regards
Barry
