Keeping floating plants from moving

Hi all,
How can I keep floating plants from wandering around the pond, specifically under the waterfall or into the skimmer and filter? I've got a water lettuce that keeps rolling right into the waterfall, and I'd like to buy more to provide more shade but I'm debating how I can do this.

I've considered stringing them to the railing. Any other advice much appreciated!

Here's what I made, from a trip in the dollar store. I made them last year and

it helps to keep my koi pond healthy.
1 plastic container
1 pool noodle.

You can get those same kind of tubes at the hardware store in the plumbing dept in a gray or black color.
