Keep UV running on?

Have a very small garden Pond that had a pressurized filter. I recently switched over to a pressurized filter with a UV light. I can keep the filter running with The light on or off. Do I keep the light running 24 seven or are there other suggestions? Thank you.

How big is your pond and how many/what kind of fish do you have? I can’t answer your question, but are you having a problem with algae?
