I have had these gold fish for a few years. Now one started with a white spot last year. I have just opened up the pond and he now looks horrible. Let me add. This is an all natural pond. 180 gallons. Flat bio filter. Have never used chemicals, tested water, nothing. This is my second batch of fish in this outside tank( a heron got the first batch) in 16 years. I have had this batch for years and all started as feeder fish. Total of 5 fish all about 6 inches more or less. So I don't know where or how this fish got these bumps.

Looks like it could be carp pox, which is more of a problem in cooler temperatures. Generally it clears up in warmer weather. My understanding is, there isn't anything you can do, it's viral.

Is the fish swimming and eating normally?

Pox is likely. But there are other fish that haven't shown signs and it's been going on a year so maybe could just be tumors. Not uncommon in goldfish and Koi. Hard to tell in pic.

I don't know what it is :( It's possible it's some kind of tumor, or cysts, if you don't believe it's carp pox. If it was my fish, I'd keep a close eye on it, making sure it's eating and swimming normally.

Sometimes people sedate their fish and do what is called a "scrape and scope", then looking carefully under a microscope for parasites.

It does look like the viral thing, carp pox, or whatever it's called. I have one GF that has this. I had him for a couple of years before it showed up. It is gradually getting worse, but none of the other fish shows any signs. This fish is active and appears healthy.

Just to allay some fear, Fish Pox, Koi Pox, CyHV1 or whatever one may call it, it rarely fatal. It appearance is typically attributed to a water quality issue. As @Tula stated, because is it viral there is no cure.

Never heard of it being. But then that's been true for all virus...doesn't jump to humans until there's a mutation that can. One in a billion chance, but I wouldn't lick it.
