Is there a "best" way to arrange/place air stones?

Just curious if there is a logical rationale [or is that redundant?] for where to put airstones for best results.

My pond is not-quite oval.....well, maybe egg-shaped. I currently have 5 locations around the pond where there are either spitters or filter returns. I tend to move the air stones around, but for now I have 3 that are sort of triangled toward the center. [BTW, the Skippy location is temporary, pending addition of the main bog which will go in the far, left "corner" of the pond.] And obviously, no BD.

Any bottom aeration should be located near or at the approximate center of the pond. This will afford uniform water movement throughout the entire water column.

I just ordered a new air pump that sits on the bottom of the pond (rather than using air stones connected to tubing with an air pump on the outside of the pond) I didn't even know this type existed until recently.
