introducing new koi

i lost my fish this winter, wondering what the temperature of the pond should be before adding new fish (koi)...we live in ontario and air temperature is still around 2C at night.

Sorry to hear about your fish. It was a tough winter for lots of us.

Consider the water temperature - the fish could care less about the air! The water they are coming from and the water they are going to should be within a few degrees of each other. What's your pond temperature?

Assuming your new fish are healthy, all you need to do is acclimate them properly and they should be ok no matter what the water temp.

They do better going into warmer water than into colder water. Just like us.
