...and the process took a few days for each computer.

I'm normally one that embraces new technology because of the added security, but recent win 10 updates made my computers unusable.
I still have a couple of computers running win 10 and will re upgrade at a later date.

Posted this in case anyone else is experiencing similar difficulties.

My newish laptop did not like 8.1which it came with, it does not like win 10, my video card is not compatible, it flickers goes black then comes back. So sort of stuck with it. Only other choice buy another new one.
I have been mainly using my phone while here. Not the easiest, we have just a hot spot, we pay for usage when I need my lappy.

I like it, my laptop does not. Makes hubby nervous, I need something running well when we travel, mainly due to the rentals.
I may pick up a new one eventually.

It depends on your setup and what you want to use it for.

We have Windows desktop, Mac desktop, Iphones, iPads, iMac with Parallels virtual machine Win 10, Macbook pro running bootcamp Win 7, windows laptop. Some computers with multiple display setups, Apple TV on our big screen tv.
They all have their plus and minuses.

All I need with my current needs is a good working laptop.

In my past I needed some good working well networked, powerful stuff.
Now a lot more casual in use.

A laptop just isn't as portable as a tablet. Too big and heavy.
I never did switch to windows 10, people that did didn't like it. I think I have 7 on this LT and Vista on my DT. No desire to change.

Tried Windows 10 for a week. Highly unstable. Did not like Cortana, Edge or the required password after 'sleep' mode. Went back to Windows 7. Have one other PC with Windows XP, my true favorite OS.

Win 10 is running fine on my fastest most up to date computer, but this Cortana thing seems to me to be a data gathering utility for advertisers, just like Facebook.
I have a presence on Facebook, but I don't use it.
Data gathering programs like Facebook are still too "wild west" for me.

I turn off data gathering, use "non".tracking search engines. Wipe the cookies off quite often
I need a new video card and my lappy would fine, I updated the drivers, didn't help.

I stuck with Windows XP right up until 2012. Everyone was changing over to Vista and 7, but XP did everything I needed it to. When I got Windows 8, I felt the same way. It does everything I need it to, and I haven't had anything to complain about, so I probably won't make an upgrade for another 8 years.
