Terri now for the next lesson do you have a Qaurentine pond you can put new fish in for a period of one month, otherwise you may introduce things that are nasty to your existing fish who by the sound of it are fit and healthy its not worth the risk adding new koi straight into the pond. The Interpet Manuel of koi health will explain all this too you when you read about this its better to treat the new koi for any problems rather than create larger problems. We have a large fibre glass QT tank that holds around 350 imperial gallons with its own built in U/V-C pump and filter along with a venturie and bottom drain, we also have a spare airpump used soley for the purpose of supplying air to this tank, it will never see use in our pond we do however have a spare pump for this very purpose. Online buying of koi can sometimes cause problems , its better to buy from a dealer you can meet face to face. We also hhave a rule of thumb we stick to "if a koi in the vat you wish to buy from so much as has a split fin or is clamped we just wont buy. If however like we did at the show this year buy to koi and put them straight into the pondit is because those koi had been pre QT'd specifically for that show and thus had a clean bill of health. Amazon US has the books you'll need and they are cheaper than buying from a bookstore , sometimes the second hand books are in immaculte condition other times the new book is going cheaply. They are normally deliverd in tthree days other times depending what side of the US they are coming from it may take ten days and thats to the UK so you buying from say the east coast may take less . Very nice pond with a very good flow of water can you turn it down so we can get shots of the koi so we can identify them for you? rgrds Dave
