Hello all. My problem is that the hose going up to my waterfall from the waterfall pump has split. I got some waterproof black marine tape that was supposed to fix it but it has come loose. I have more hose but the thought of trying to unstack and then restack all those rocks to replace the hose is unnerving. Any suggestions what I could use to mend the existing hose? Thanks.

Hello and welcome!

I’m confused. Where is the hose split? If it’s split, it seems like you would have to remove it to repair it anyway. And what kind of hose is it? If it’s that corrugated plastic tubing, then IMHO, I would take the rocking apart and replace it with flexible PVC. I don’t think there is a good, reliable ” repair” alternative.

It’s split between the waterfall pump and the waterfall. I don’t want to take the whole thing apart unless there’s no other way. Thanks.

Oh boy, I think you may end up having to take it apart or at least part of it depending on how stable it is w/o certain rocks. I agree w/ @Mmathis get the quality hose this time.

As stated, if it's that popular corregated pond hose, it won't last long. I have experienced that stuff. Constant pin holes, etc.
Replace it with flexible PVC. It will be the last hose you buy.
Plus, flex PVC is totally compatible with standard ridgid PVC. It mates with all the fittings and you can use the same primer and glue. It's not crazy flexible, but you can bend it, which helps reduce the need for elbows.

Thanks for everyone's input. The marine tape I ordered is still holding for now and quite frankly, I'm a senior on a fixed income and simply can't afford to pay someone else to replace the hose. I think it will be a pretty major job since all those rocks will have to be moved. Sounds like a nightmare. lol Guess I'll start putting some money back and just get by as best I can in the meantime.

I posted a video of my pond and waterfall. I can't move those rocks and put them back correctly. Professional help isn't in my budget right now with gas and most groceries twice as high as they were, so just have to make do. But thanks,

Is the waterfall box accessible from behind? You could abandon the existing hose and run a new flex or rigid pvc/abs line outside the pond to connect to waterfall box from the back.
