Honey bees have zero desire to sting you - they lose their own lives if they do. And they are extremely valuable to the ecosystem.

But providing an alternate water source away from your pond may help. Have you talked to your neighbor to let him know the bees are using you as a watering spot? If he’s a good beekeeper he will want to both protect his bees and not annoy you with them.

Honey bees are the least of the bees that will sting. They need to primarily be provoked / threatened before they will sting. The bees are coming to you for two reasons floers and the water. I'd talk to them ask them to get a water source closer to the hives. Then once that is done try bringing the salt level up to the minimal amount, which I do not know I believe it's 6 % or .06 I forget BUTLER maybe that little bit of salt will make them move on

Beekeep here.

@GBBUDD they love a trace of salt .

I had hundreds of bees drinking all of the time they never stung me . Even when working among them.

Even now have bees around. (We just sold our 14 hives)

The beekeep could set up a shallow stock tank with peagavel let algae grow. Add some lemon grass oil and draw some away.

Once they find a water source they love it is hard to break the GPS they set for that water. If he sets it up now with winter the new bees will GPS on the closer source.

They use a lot of water very important to the hive.

It was an idea OK I admit it I was wrong for the first time,
Someone mark the calendar... we will have an annual celebration of this momentous moment in history!

I should have added - I am allergic to bee stings. The reaction gets worse with every new sting. But honeybees wouldn't bother me at all. Hornets, yellow jackets, wasps - no thank you.

They won't hurt you unless you mess w/them. They do so much for us and by you allowing them to drink from your pond you are doing a great service for all of us.

I guess I would suggest to just let them Bee

My bog is like a micro airport with a constant line of bees arriving and departing all day long.
They love bogs, easy to land on the stones, plants and get water without drowning. I still have bees drinking in my ponds/bog, from some other beekeep. A smaller number than before but they are around. Thrilled to see them.

Any pond smelly body of water with algae they are happy. They are lousy swimmers really need stuff to land on or they drown.

@addy1 - you sold them all! Another page turns…
yes, I miss them , such a well organized neat society. Our honey is in high demand, it has such a neat flavor. We have enough for about a year selling at the one farmers market stand. We bottle they sale.

Do not miss the work ,time involved, being out in the 95 plus heat with a bee suit on. Esp with this being my medical year............... broken wrist, two arm surgeries, one done one to come. Need arms to work hives lol.

The professional that inspected them for me to be able to sell, bought every one, he was so impressed with their health. Strong full of bees, no diseases.
