Should I worry about the little birds drinking from my filter because my dad said they have lots of diseases. Would that make my Koi sick?

You could put a cover or net over your filter and solve that problem. I wouldn't be worried about them drinking, I'd be more worried about them sitting on the edge and pooping in the water. Just cover it up.

yep.. bathing and pooping may be a source of contamination, disease and parasites. but cant see much harm in the drinking.... but you never know where theyve been before stopping at your pond to bathe.

Only waterfowl type birds can move disease from other water sources to your pond. But covering a filter would do little good if the pond is wide open. For song type birds there are no bird diseases that fish can catch.
