Just making a new pond with my 8 yr old son,
Last did this about 35 years ago in the UK! with my brother.
I have quite a few questions firstly as Iam making a pond in a hot country what precautions and hints can we make to reduce the mosquito population with a pond.I will put in a circulation system and would be great to hear any other advice.
Thanks
John and Sam

Welcome to the forum. You can get something called mosquito dunks or just get some fish. My fish take care of them for me, as I don't have a mosquito problem.

John & Sam; Welcome to the forum. Never having been to Greece, I'm not familiar with what is available in the way of fishes, but almost anything that will live in a tropical aquarium should do quite well in your pond, and will gladly take care of the mosquito problem. Any of the livebearers (guppies, platies, swordtails, mollies) do well outside in our summers, and some are as colourful as any goldfish, John

welcome, glad you joined!

Make your pond deep, that will help with the heat at least 3 feet 4-5 feet better.
With good water movement, a fountain, a spray etc, mosquitoes will not breed, they do not like moving water, and of course fish help

That about covers it, fish and moving water, once its established I"m sure you'll get other wonderful critters like frogs that'll hang out and keep the population down also.

Hi John!
There is no problem when your pond has fish.I'll anwser all your questions when we meet.A pond is very easy to handle here in Crete because of its weather. But only Koi and goldfish can make it through the winter as we mit not have bad winters but it does get cold and tropicl fish wount make it.
Mosquitos are no problem in my pond and are handled greatly by goldfish.

Welcome!

As I sit at my desk in the UK, looking at the grey skies, I am extremely envious of you! Pond looks fab, hope you manage to fix the mozzie problem.
