New member here! I have been doing a lot of reading of topics and threads and enjoying the pics.

I used to have a pretty large garden/koi pond but went through a divorce, sold the house and property. Have sinced moved into another house, but renting, so digging a big pond is not an option. My thirst for a pond, however, was insatiable so I put in a preformed pond, albeit a small one but i am really loving it, it looks great. I have had whiskey barrel ponds before so I am familiar with the mechanics of ponds and I am holding my breath she continues to stay so crystal clear! The enormous 103 degree days in Virginia are rough and algae bloom break outs happen easy 'round here so I am hoping the biological filter has already kicked in (its been about 4.5 weeks).

Here is a pic. LIke I said, not big, but satisfies me completely as i have fish, plants, and waterfall - it gives me something to take care of!!!

I ran out of slate, so my next project is to get more so that I can put another layer around the whole thing and hide the lip of the pond. I had just enough to go around the whole thing and waterfall. I only bought 500 lbs initially. Looks like i need another batch. That is the most expensive part of all as I got the liner for $50 as it was last one at southern states so he gave it to me 65% off. That was a steal! Waterfall liner was only about 11 bucks. Went to the river to get some big rocks to help go around the waterfall as building up the wall completely with purchased slate wasn't economical~!

Oh and much to my delight i found out I already have a new inhabitant. Was sitting out there with my coffee this morning and something lunged forward out of nowhere. Was a cute waterfrog that had come to the top and sprawled out at the top. He has been living in the corner with the water hyacinths and my small barley bail. See him peek out every now and then!

And been enjoying the dragonflies that perch on the lilies.

You just can't beat a pond - large or small! Love 'em! Could stare at the fishes swimming around and the waterfall all day just a day dreamin!

It is hard to beat a free inhabitant of something you love. Good job. In time you will have a home and a nice pond again. Once it is in your veins, like Corvettes, it stays there.

Welcome you have a very nice pond. I found imported rock to be the most expensive item since middle Tennessee just doesn't have any pretty granite.
