Set up 2 new ponds linked by a waterfall bout 3 months ago. Stocked bottom pond with 4 goldfish, 2 koi and 4 comets. All was well with them up till now when over the last couple of days they have stopped feeding and hanging about at the bottom. (not their usual behaviour as its normally a feeding frenzy and they were also very active) . Now one died yest and another 2day. Tested the water and it it looks ok. Whats going on!!! Ima newby at this so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

How long did you wait before adding fish ,your filter needs time to work and hopefully you have well water or are treating your city water .Sounds like lack of oxygen and good filtering .Test is good what is good mean ,ph nitrites nitrates and amonia .How are you filtering the water and how big is your pond

Is the tetra kit test strips or liquid? It almost sounds as if your ammonia is too high.

regular water changes and get a liquid test kit .You may need to over filter by using quilt batting and allowing you water going into your filter to go into a basket filled with quilt batting

and that will mean cleaning it often

You can do regular water changes every day to lower the ammonia concentrations. I wouldn't change more than 20% at any one time. That is a lot of fish for a brand new pond. Also try adding some plants and you can buy some beneficial bacteria and add it to help it along. Also I would avoid feeding until the pond cycles and you get consistent zero ammonia.. If they are outside they won't starve.
