Also posted in garden forum. Need all the help possible.

My son's front yard is out of control and he needs help. He and his wife would like to sit on their ground level porch to relax and watch the children play. Please have a close look at the photo then suggest what needs to be done to take control of this overwhelming bed. Plants can be reshaped, cut back and/or removed. Please be as detailed as possible. My son nor his wife are gardeners.

If it were me I would take out that one long square bush right in front and prune the big bush 1/2 down or remove it also in front of the post covering the front door area. That would really open it up.

We removed big junipers with a chain and a truck. It takes some time but sure is fun! If there is a bush or two they really love, they can be handled...Id say rip the rest out and have some fun while your at it.
