Oof! what is up with all those missing scales?? The fins are a tad shabby as well. It's likely because of all that stuff in the tank that it's rubbing up against. You can't really have things in a tank or pond where you house koi. Speaking of that, how big is that tank for this failry large fish?

Overall, I would say it's a mutt, tho. No real brand to speak of from what I can tell...

Err, Koikeeper, that is completley natural and healthy for that type of koi. It's a german scale variety (doitsu), I have a few myself. He isn't missing any scales...well at least not that belong there........

This photo is nearly 3 years old. Do you have a recent shot of this Koi?

you know nc0, I was thinking doitsu mutt, but seeing all those little rock formations and stuff in there had me wondering if they had mabye come off. I've got a couple of doitsu in the pond and the scales are funky along the top back, but yeah, I've seen those with scales missing on the side, too. You are right!

I am guess that this is not the original posters koi, rather a picture he/she ran across and he/she is looking for one simular. Try ebay with the following seach "live koi & german scale"
