Dear,

My pond is a square (3.5m * 3.5m * 0.8m) and is a pain in the ass  !
Let me explain something about my pond.

My pond has a filter system from OASE with a UV-lamp. When i bought the pond it was completly chaos.
Since it was so dirty and green i decided to pump out all of the water and clean it with my karcher.
Afterwards i refilled it with fresh water. After a visit to the pondshop they told me that i need to cover
my pond bottom with substrate, that i need to have oxygen plants and that i need to start the biological
balance with some bacteria.

So i followed their advice and did everything what they told me. But it was to quick euphoric.
In the beginning everything went good... but after a while i saw that my pond was producing
green dirty slim so went back to the pondshop. They told me the slime is floating and filamentous algae.
I bought a product to reduce the algae. The product named Green Control. I added it to my pond as i was on the
manual instructions. Today i don't see bettership in my pond.

Last week i went into the pond and saw that several plant are dead because the algae are on top of them.
So i was wondering if you guys could help me getting my pond nice and clean.

In attach some pictures of the pond.

welcome lodevs, i have yet to experience that type of algae but from what other members have posted is that you can take something like a toilet brush and remove as much as possible.. don't know all the particulars of your pond but it could be bad water quality, not enough aeration, overfeeding, overstocked.. am sure others who have experienced this will chime in and help you better than i

dear members,

First of all thx for the response on my topic.
I'll will try the trick with the toiletbrush.

My garden is nort Oriented so in the morning i got full son on my pond. After a couple of hrs the pond has no sun annymore.
Another thing i want to mention is since i changed my UV-lamp this year it's blinking. Dunnow if it's normal ?

At this moment there are no fishes in the pond but when my pond is completly clear i'll do it .
So the it's not the overfeeding that will do it...

In the past i did several test and every test my aeration was above the normal value's. Since then i didn't changed anything about my setup from my pond.

I seriously wan't a clear and healthy pond. I got the feeling that the pondshop isn't giving my the good follow-up and help. So i was wondering if i can find help on the internet
from people that now something about ponds.

Welcome to the forum. You will be amazed at all you learn from everyone on here and NOT your pond shop who just want to sell you their items :) Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. You have found a great resource for GOOD information. I am new to pond-ing (if that is a word) but am already hooked. I agree with the previous posters, just swab up the bloom. I have found the information to be way more helpful and accurate in this forum than any local pond shop. I do buy some products in the shops but they can keep their advice. I too want a clear and healthy pond. I love to see my fish clearly, BUT if I can see them easily, so can predators, ie: Herons, raccoons, etc. Unfortunately I am in the process of learning that right now. I like the idea of pond plants for aeration and, once you add fish places for the fish to hide from these unwelcome visitors. One thing I have learned in the last few months is to seek advice, then do a little research on your own and then make methodical choices. Rome was not built in a day. Your pond wont be perfect in a day either. Enjoy the process!

To the group!

Plants will help compete with the algae growth.
