welcome and city water or well water .City water needs dechlorinator in it and you need your filter to run for awhile .I always say wait a month and in the case of bigger ponds at least 6 weeks .You don't want to spend good money on fish to have them die .

Welcome to our group! What size of pond, what kind of filter, what kind of fish are you wanting? What have you done so far?

It is about 300 gallons maybe a little less, i bought it off a friend, I don't have the pump in it yet that will be here in a few days. We basically dug a hole leveled it out and put in the preformed pond, filled it up and added stones around it. I would like to put some Koi fish but I know they get big so maybe just one or two, some goldies, and some mosquito fish, and some snails. Is this going to be to much for this size pond?

koi are not a good idea my pond is 10by 24 and just over 4 feet deep .As few a fish as you can they have babies and you will need the room .I have 13 fish and feel the pond is to small but I have the option of moving them to the other house and the pond there is over 6 ft deep and 20x20 and is spring fed but some of the spring was diverted to the side and there is just one 8 inch pipe from the spring to the pond that can be capped off just in case
