I have been following this forum for some time now. You all have peaked my interest in ponding. I currently have used my 150 gal stock tank to play with this ponding idea. I have had it for 2 summers and been having fun with my ity bity pond. So I guess I have been bitten by the ponding bug and am currently in the process of digging my in ground liner pond. Pond will be approx 11' x 11' and about 3 1/2' deep. Actually the hole is dug. The liner is in the garage and we just had 2 inches of rain. So waiting for it to dry out before we install the liner. I am both nervous about this new pond and excited too. I have learned so much from all of you already but will still be needing much advice.
We will be making a skippy from a stock tank and I need to order a pump. Thinking about a pondmaster max flo but not sure how big of pump to get. We will have a small waterfall exiting from the skippy. Thinking right now maybe 2 to 3 feet high. Still in the thinking stage here. Any help on pump size would be much appreciated.

welcome and that would all depend on a waterfall or not .The longer the hose the less pressure .Right now in my pond 25x10 I have a 2150 pump from harbor freight and a 2400 gph one from lowes .I had a laguna max flo but 3 strikes and it was out .They replaced it 2 times in just 4 months .I guess i got the lemons .The one thing i was looking for was low wattage pumps .Electricity not get any cheaper

welcome, personally i wouldn't use a submersible pump unless pricing was too good to pass up... leaving something submerged all the time i would think the life expectancy not as long as an external pump..plus screws tend to rust more i think if you have to service, along with possibly having to get in pond to clear any debris away and hoses from pump running from pump to your skippy and hopefully to some sort of skimmer.... you will need to determine how much head height you pump will be pumping plus distance...flexible hose is easier to connect but pricer than using pvc and glue... and you may want to try and purchase a pump that turns water over about 2x an hour, but you need to keep in mind how high and far the water gets pumped that the flow will decrease... i think your pond will be around 3200 gallons
