Hello all.
My wife and I recently purchased a home with an existing pond in the back.
I think the pond had been neglected for a couple of years. We moved in early Feb. and the pond was iced over. As the ice began to melt I was surprised to see a big bullfrog sunning himself in the thawed area.
Anyway, the pond bottom was covered in muck and if we turned on the pump, boy, what a smell. As soon as the weather was warm enough, I drained the pond, and pulled out buckets of the most foul smelling gunk you would ever want to stand ankle deep in.
I pulled out everything and power washed the liner. The we got a few pots and repotted some of the water lilleys and some of the other plants ( I don't even know what kind). I connected the filter (which the previous owner thankfully left) and we let it run for a couple of weeks. Then we added 4 goldfish. It's a work in progress and I will try to post more photos and will probably ask enough questions to drive everyone crazy.
