Well, obviously new to the board, just read that new members should put an intro into the introduction thread (sorry, trying to get Easter dinner in the oven, etc).

Anyway, I've got a 200 gallon pre-formed pond, dog bone shape with ledges in the corners for plants. I have a pondmaster submmersible pump/filter for up to 500 gallons. Semi-dorment - 2 baskets of hardy lillies, 1 corkscrew plant and an iris. Come mid-may will be adding again, water lettuce, hyacinth and duckweek, going to try and find frogbit this year. All my values have usually always been normal or pretty close - my pond guy helps me with this. Using spring microlift, and some alageway. Also, added some more salt to re-balence my levels. Overall, great pond, fingers crossed. Do have a question in general talk about males chasing females, excessive? I think so, but not exactly how much chasing is normal. They were crazy this morning and finally, have subsided.

Thank You
Aly

Hi Fantail, Welcome. They will chase the females until they get tired. That can take hours and hours. Mine usually start at daybreak and go until 9 or 10 in the morning. Then they start up again at night and can go past midnight!

Welcome to the Forum, It does seem excesive sometimes but then it usually will subside and anouther fish starts getting chased. If the female looks to tired and ragged she may need to be seperated and allowed a rest period.
