Do they hurt fish or are they by them selves and how big do they get .Hate to see a crab that looks like he has a glass girdle on :)

They will eat fish and anything that is slow moving. They tend to be at the bottom of the tank, so I'm putting them in my small tank where there's only mid-high level fast swimming fish. I also have a shrimp, assassin snails and a cory there, but I think they will be able to take care of themselves. I might have to move the assassin snails to the other tank.

Sounds like it could be a real war zone in there w/ all those killer critters in there. So what do you feed these crabs? Wonder if they would grab at your fingers..........give it a try and see John :D

Sorry folks, still haven't got them yet. My wife is a big fan of combining trips. So she won't allow me to go just to get the crabs. And wouldn't you know every time it's a combo trip, the store was either closed, it wasn't the last stop home or something else. So far, we've passed by the store 5 times but it wasn't the right time each time.

Ha Ha Ha!

John, I can just see your drooping face and pleading eyes, sitting in the passenger seat with your seat belt on, pointing to the shop and begging as your wife drives by!

"Honey, honey?... there's the crab shop. Can we stop? Please?"

"No John."

"But I jus..."

"No John, I have to get my hair done and the crabs would die in the car if we don't get them home right away."

"But I could take them home while you are getting your hair done and then come back and pick you up."

"No John, you will get all excited about having crabs and forget that I am here at the salon and I will have to walk home!"

"But, I..."

"No John! No!"

"Bu.."

"No John!"

"B..."

"I said NO John!"

Sound familiar? Or do I exaggerate? LOL It's the same all over the world, don't ya know. :)

OK, enough of the jocularities from me for the moment, hee hee.

I am looking forward to seeing some pix of your red claws when you eventually do get them. I have an idea of my own related to this adventure. You are seeking red claw crabs and I am seeking freshwater blue crawdads. When I was in elementary school, my Dad and I used to catch giant blue crawdads (crayfish) from the river. They were bright blue in color, almost sky blue and up to 8 inches long. We ate these, like mini lobsters. They were quite rare back then and I have not seen one like them since.

I would like to find some and breed them to restock the river if it is possible. I have found blue crayfish for sale on the web, but they are not the same as what I knew of when I was a kid.

These blue crayfish would look awesome in an indoor freshwater tank. They are very beautiful and BIG.
