A guy at work has a pond and he is on his second year. I am guessing by his description it is about 1000 gallons. He only had mosquitofish up until now. I offered to give him as many comet babies as he wanted. He thought 4-5 would be good. So he came over after work today with a bucket to pick them up. My fish have become very tame and friendly, eating out of my hand and letting me pet them in a fishy way. But as soon as I grabbed the net they did not want to have anything to do with me. It took me about 20 minutes to catch 1 baby. I didn't want to send him home with just one, that would be lonely, so it took me another 20 minutes to catch a second one. Sent him home with two baby comets. One is what I call strawberries and cream and the other is orange.

Now I think my fishies are mad at me and I am sure the 2 I gave away are confused that "the woman" they love so much could betray them like this. I really hope my fishies forget pretty soon about what just happened.

My husband immediately quoted Oh Brother Where Art Thou...

"Deceitful, two-faced she-woman. Never trust a female Delmar, remember that one simple precept and your time with me will not have been ill spent. "

I don't know if I can give away fishies anymore... this is sad.

Have someone help you, put them put net in the water, nice big one. Let it sit undisturbed until the fish iggy it. Throw some food in right over the net. Swoop up very fast.

think of it as your generosity helping someone in need pecan... and as j.w. said won't take long when you're feeding them again and they'll still love you... they will just run away when the see the net again...

They are darn fast if they get wind of that net, and once they figure out it is "bad" you are out of luck..........
