Frog find!

Just cleaned out my pond filter for first time in a year or more and found this little frog inside. The only way I can think it got in was by being sucked in as a tadpole and then living off the vegetation and insects that passed through the pump. A luck escape !

They do find their way into some interesting spots!

You haven't cleaned your pond filter in over a year?

Yes I know I’m lazy but the water was crystal clear; the fish were flourishing so if it’s not broken don’t fix it I thought

Well, that is one thought! How dirty was it? I don't have any mechanical filtration on my pond so I'm no expert, but I know people do clean their filter media mainly so it doesn't clog and stop the water flow. If they water was still flowing through it then I guess you're fine!

It was dirty but was still working fine

Well there you go.

And I wouldn't assume that little frog didn't find a way to squeeze inside - they can flatten themselves out and slip into very small spaces.
