Hi guys.
I recently added some beautiful forget me not flowers in my container pond. I noticed some are turning pink. Do you think they will be fine?

check your water pH; it may be it's on the acidic side. Some flowers turn pink if in an acid environment and blue if a basic one. But yeah, they do great in my pond!

Not saying this has anything to do with it but you could probably lower them in further. Have the water level with the top of the pot.

Mine are a pale lilac color. Our pond ph is around 7.6 or so. Our well water is 5.4 or so.

They grow like wild fire here. They love being at the edge of the current.

Can I plant a terrestrially grown plant directly in the water?
some yes, some no; most don't like their roots always in the water and yet, I've grown many cuttings this way. So, depends. Try it and watch to see if it thrives or starts to struggle (then take it out). And most will need some way to keep their crown above the water, so you can use a netting of some sort with a float ring around it. Or you can wedge it between rocks to help it remain upright.

well, not exactly sure what is going on. I've had forgetmenots for a few years now. Most of mine grow on the bank, in the soil, and are like weeds. Some move into the water, near a waterfall, too, and they'll be fine unless the fish/turtles start snacking. I've also put some in another area using a screen net I made, to keep the fish/turtles from chowing down. The water here isn't moving like by the waterfall. They're perking up after I uprooted them from one side of the pond to the other. If I were you, I'd put them in a protected place, roots in shallow water or just put them between rocks on the perimeter. They are generally pretty tough. The forgetmenots I have on land actually die back during the winter but shoot up in the spring once the weather warms. Have your forgetmenots been experiencing any freezing at night? Or at least temps getting near freezing temps?

Too, I'd divide your plant and try more than one method, just in case you lose one, you have the other. Maybe plant one part in the soil on the banks and have the other planted in shallow water. I'd definitely give them time and let the season progress before you give up on them. They might have some sort of fungal disease, hard to tell.

Keep us posted as to how they're doing. Worst case scenario, you buy another and plant it in warmer weather and as suggested above. I think you'll eventually have success.

This all presupposes your water params (pH, nutrient levels, absence of copper or other plant-detrimental substances) are okay. If you have other plants doing well, the last bit shouldn't be a concern. How are your other plants doing? Thriving or struggling?

Here's a couple of pics of mine;

Mine are in full sun and do great. The biggest problem is the other plants can overwhelm it.
