We are expecting a heavy rain tonight. If my pond floods could my baby fry be washed out on the lawn?. Do they dive deep in the pond in a storm? Should I drain some of the pond? Please let me know. RDK

Do you have an overflow? you could put a piece of net over it. We just got 1 inch and my overflow was running good, nice water change.

I have a pond cover, with half inch wire fencing. Fine for my big boys but what about half inch fry? RDK

Just to be on the safe side give your self a good filter flush and bring the pond down and enjoy the free water

Yes, my one pond went up by 1 inch, it does not get any run off. It did not overflow, it was around 4 inches low, we had just started filling it.
The other pond went up by around 4 inches, it gets roof runoff. (1 inch of rain today)

I had a nice little river leaving my pond today.

When i think a big rain is coming i just flush all my filters and bring my water down
5" or 6" or more just for the water change ...If it doesn't fill it back up i just put the hose in
Not that we had much rain this year ...But I have taken 8" rains with out any trouble.
My low pond is higher than the neighbors yards so any exess goes out my back gate

I get it. If I put a wire screen over the pipe the water will flow out of the pond but the fry will stay in the pond. That is great. Thanks

you can lower the overflow pipe just enough to put an elbo on it so the elboes aimed up your fry would even be safe...the top opening of the elboe will be your water line
