Hi we have a large pond in our field approx 9m x 5m x 1.5m deep. We inherited this pond from the previous owners and the liner had split and worn so dug out the pond reduced the size and lined it 2 years ago. Every winter now we have a real problem with floating pond liner as I assume the water table it quite high as there are other natural ponds in the adjacent fields. We have been desperately trying to find a way to resolve this without digging up the pond again. Has anyone else tried raising the edges of the pond to increase the pond height? I have read that this will help overcome the pressure from the water table?

Other people here know more about this then I can explain. Something about digging below and putting a pipe that goes downhill to divert the water underground is one way but there are other ways too I believe so be patient.

Thank you for your quick response, I think that's the french drain approach. I am trying desperately not to have to drain the pond, remove the liner and start all over again. lets see if anyone has any suggestions or had any success.

Digging along the side of the pond preferably close to where the HIPPO "FLOATING LINER " shows at the surface. Basically you want to create the path of least resistance for the water to get out from under the liner. Could this answer be a single pipe drove into the ground? possibly. Could it be a trench of stone along the side of the pond that will do the job? it is hard to say but the solution is making a way for the water to follow that will allow it to run from underneath the line. is the answer a sump pump and a catch plunge pool maybe.
