I have hyacinths and a few water lettuce. They look great in the pond, but my fish are always chilling out under them so its hard to see them. They do come out occasionally to play by the waterfall. Is that normal behavior for them to chill under the plants for most of the day?

it is perfectly normal, for three main reasons.

1. the water lettuce provides shade

2. the water lettuce provides food!

3. the water lettuce provides a place to hide

all things outdor fish in the hot summer sun like :) as long as they come out for sometime, and act normal then it is really nothing to worry about :)
