I don't know where this should be posted but I need to ask: Where is the best place to locate a refill float & is there a really reliable one specificately for ponds? Maybe I also should ask if anyone uses a refill float.
Thanks in advance

Like DoDad, when I finally get around to installing my float valve, it would be in my skimmer/pre-filter reservor. When my water level drops, that's where it drops. I have to check the skimmer reservor daily to see if I need to add water to the pond. The skimmer/pre-filter reservor is where my submersible water pump is also, and I can't let the water level drop down to the water pump for obvious reasons.

The only problem I have is running a dripline to the pond. The location of the pond and the closest water faucet is a logistical problem. Foundation, side walks, and the hook up.

Thanks for the info. My pond is about 150 feet from the back of the house. I burryed a heavy duty water hose about [10" deep] out to the pond. I have a Rubbermaid stock tank float valve. I want to position it right outside next to the skimmer opening. It won't be fastened to anything. In your opinion [and if you understand my discription] do you think this will work. I have burned out one pump because of low water. I'm hoping to resolve that problem this year

CJ, based on what you described it should work just fine. You buried the hose deep enough to keep it from freezing up also.

Like I noted in my post above, I have to run my water line under two side walks and the foundation to the house. Bad location planning on my part. Of course at the time I was planning this whole pond thing out, I didn't even consider the running water to the pond other than using a garden hose.

I have two 500 gallon water tanks and the stock tank float valve works fine.
