Does anybody use a float switch in their pond ?
I've read on here of someone running their pipes in the pond just in case of a pipe failure.
I think a float switch would give some piece of mind, knowing that if a leak occurred in the middle of the night,
your pond/fish are protected .
I have one similar to this Switch and am thinking of hooking it up, just in-case.

Any thoughts, as to why I should not do this ?

Only reason not to is if your pump is in a skimmer. The float switch will shut it off but then once off the water level in the back of the skimmer will fill back up and turn it back on, then just starts repeating. Electric
pumps don’t like being shut off and on constantly.

Not an issue if it is Actually in the main pond.
