It's been a while since I've been on here! :( I have a concern about one of my new little fish, Loki. I got him a few weeks ago and he is in a pond with three other little fish. He seemed fine but I noticed one of the other fish was grabbing at him around his mouth and seemed to be trying to pull something away. On closer inspection he has what looks like an ulcer near his mouth, but I'm not certain. He's very small (as you can see by comparing to my finger!) I've now separated him from the other fish, but does anyone have any advice as to what this might be and what I can do to help the little guy? It's amazing how attached you can get to a little creature in such a short period of time! Thank you :)

I think it is mouth rot.

Have you noticed If the fish is able to eat?

Do you have any antibiotics in hand? Tri-cide neo or debride ointment will work if you have either.

Hey - thanks for the reply. He's eating a little, but only if the food is mushed right down (they get pond pellets and also frozen green food (peas etc)...I don't have any anitbiotics - I might ring our vet in the morning as they specialise in fish and reptiles...my little guy is worth it! Thanks again - I'll let you know how it goes.

This is a bacterial infection by the looks of things your going to need to buy a good off the shelf anti bacterial treatment and just hope that we have things right normally we would need to find out which it is Gram positive or gram negative , however @katebet speed is of the essence here .
