Has anyone noticed shubunkin / goldfish acting a bit more cautious, shy and scared when the cool weather moves in and you also switch to cool weather food? I am curious, as I know that they don't like any change. I am also wondering if perhaps a raccoon has been visiting instead causing the behavior. Three weeks ago the fish would eat out of my hands, now they are being super reserved.

I just had a cold snap and mine were hunkering down on the bottom, not as active as usual. I did not feed at the time. Could be a raccoon also, usually you will see the pond stirred up if shallow or stuff moved around as they hunt.

Mine are a bit calmer, ie have not seen a snake for a while! They don't seem to like the cold weather food, never eat it as fast as the other.

Right now pond water is 64

Thanks! Could be both I suppose. Have a mama raccoon nearby. Mine are hunkered down as well. I look forward to next summer when they are doing zoomies again!

My water temp is about the same. It was a fun summer with an explosion in fish population. Now to prepare for my second winter with fishies!
