First dragonfly of the season

Yesterday I seen the first dragonfly of the season at the ponds edge. It was on the Creeping Bugleweed

I forgot to mention it was also the earliest I have ever seen one by the pond. Normally a couple more weeks. A hummingbird showed up yesterday too

Dragonflies are amazing pond creatures. They love to eat mosquitoes and mosquito larvae, so they are excellent to see around the pond!

We have zero mosquitoes , huge decrease in crickets, very few flies, the pond critters, birds I baby, take care of them all.

I read a article about a sparrow, to feed one clutch (nest of young) the bird catches 5000 insects. We have around 40 bird houses set up, bugs don't stand a chance.

I just read that same article, we have lots of barn swallows and the bugs they must consume have to be incredible.
