HI Guys(and girls)

I am fairly new to the ponk keeping hobby and in need of a little help.

I have a hozelock cascade filter/pump and as the water is green decided to purchase a UVC(Hozelock vorton 14000).
I won this in an auction but along with the uvc came a bio filter and one of those that you put in a hole in the ground.

Now I know the uvc is electric powered but not sure about the other two.
Does the uvc go in the pond or outside of it?
what is the best way to set up these three new filters?

Any help with any of these questions much much much appreciated.

KInd Regards

Hi Rob....the pump obviously goes in the bottom of the pond, i have mine set just above the floor of the pond, you then want it to go through the uvc, OUT SIDE THE POND. i've got two vorton 1400 i've put mine what looks up-side down ( i had one with the wire coming out of the top and rain water got in and caused it to go rusty) then you want it to go through your filter, which incidently goes at the opposite end of the pond to your pump or you get dead spots in the water that does not get filtered, i've also built aa pergola over the top of my pond and covered it with bamboo screening as if your pond is in direct sunlight it will be difficult to get rid of green water completely. good luck.

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the info mate,
I spwent a few hours figuring out how to set it up in the pouring rain last night......Didnt realise the pump comes out of the housing so a hose can be attached to draw water in as opposed to drawing it from the box that its in......so I have the bottom filter at the deepest part of the pond attached via hose to the pump which then goes to the UVC and then into the pressureised filter before cascading over the waterfall......Seems to be working ok now but have a few cosmetic alterations to make this weekend.

Cheers matey.
