it has to have a rough texture on the sides so this wont work.
and if its metal it will rust..

this won't work and will be heavy. It's expensive too. Go to Ebay and type in 1/2" strapping tape. You can buy a box for 9000 feet for about $40 bucks. It will be light and last many many years. We just had a media thread, please search it and you will get more detail.

you buy the textured/embossed tape.

Any of the plastic strapping will work. I have used plastic tubes and plastic fencing material as well. Some stores are selling PVC turnings which will also work.

We use chopped up old garden hose, and the plastic that comes from holding six packs together.
