Attempting my first video. I can't figure out how to embed it. I hope the link works. It's 4 minutes long. The fish are very active now. It also shows the movement in the pond, with the new aerator. When the dog barks, that the signal for another handful of food heading in the pond.

Very hungry again tonight. There must be over 300 pounds of fish in the pond. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that many fish.

That's is a lot of fish. Let's see the average 12" standard Koi weighs about 1 pound.......over 300 12" Koi?
Are these Koi? Pretty good size pond!

What a great video! I love watching trout rise to feed. Those are some ravenous brook trout, Mike. You have quite a school there. (y) Do you still plan on stocking rainbows in one of your ponds?

These are Brook Trout. The majority of the ones feeding are 10 to 20 inches. They are fat so, a 12 inch fish probably weighs a pound. The largest, about five pounds or so. There probably is 300 fish that eat the grain. My estimate in weight could be low. I was told over 20 years ago, that I would never get a successful hatch out of a pond. I had one end dug shallow, (about 4 to 5 feet deep). I kept throwing stones in the shallow end, while it was filling up. I formed a circle about 6 feet in diameter. During the wet times, (spring and fall) springs bring fresh water up through the stones. I first introduced Rainbows. They never provided me with any baby fish. After introducing the Brook Trout, I haven't had to buy any.

I do, Red. Right now would be the perfect time to do so. You want the water temp to match the temp of the hatchery water. Usually low 50's F I am going to wait until I can get a diffuser in that pond. I don't want a repeat of last year losing fish. So, probably next May. Buying in the fall is kinda a waste. Not much feeding/growing until spring.
.
I wish I could talk the State into selling me some Landlocked Salmon. That would be really awesome.

I'll trade you some venison for some trout.:)
I would gladly do so. :)
.
I have thought about inviting the local cub scouts over for a day of fishing, and a cookout, using my poles with good line and barbless hooks. The problem is, I get somewhat attached to them.
.
Last year I had a few people over to fish. Also, I caught 3 myself. 1 was 14 inches and 2 were 17 inches. The 17 inch fish measured 5 inches from the top of the back to the belly. Pretty wide too.
