Is it safe to use Jobes tomato spikes to feed lilies if you have fish? I have noticed that several people have posted that they used them but cannot recall if they had fish or not.

I have used with fish, you just want to get the spike down below the substrate the lily is planted in.

Yes you can use them. I use them and have about 30+ fish in my pond. Work just the same as other tabs at 1/2 the cost. The only thing you need to be sure of tho is that they are deep in the pot and you cover them completely. That way they don't dissolve into the water, but into the soil.

I've been reading on this and with fish seems to work fine, BUT, I have read on water lily forums that by using plant sticks that you'll end up with more leaf growth and less blooms, using a higher center # (Phosphorous) will produce more blooms and less leaves. A good lily fertilizer will be like 10-26-10. Not sure what the tomato spikes are.

Yup, just like addy said.

They have to be Tomato spikes or some people use the Jobe's Fruit Tree spikes crushed up. It has to be the Tomato or Fruit kind since it is high in Phosphorous. The others are like 10-10-10. Don't use the Miracle grow kind, they dissolve to fast. Jobe's is a harder spike that dissolves slower.

I'll post a picture of the package if it helps. You can get bulk packs online of like 50-100. But when you add shipping its basicly the same so I don't bother.

On nonflowering plants out of the water like grasses, papyrus and palms I use the houseplant spikes that are like 10-10-10 since its cheaper. They are something like 100 for 1.20$.
