barge traffic temporarily halted on aqueduct due to foliage. Also, construction underway on a parallel railroad track on the other side of the aqueduct

I plan to keep the waterway open until we get a really hard freeze; don't want any cracks in the cement. So far after some half dozen years, no leaks; the canal stays open year round as it's sandwich construcction, concrete, liner, concrete. that gives the frogs a place to hibernate in the mud on the bottom (at least that's where I think they go for winter???"

thx;

it will take some time but learning to program arduino uno, a microcontroller. I plan to use it to control RGB LED lighting which I'd like to install around the aqueduct so I can program light shows.

lighting can be controlled by photovoltaic device to turn it on automatically at night. The arduino can even detect temperature changes, shown here in a recent video I took:

you could use a similar sensor to monitor water temperature

Another project will be to build an aerial cable with video monitor in a cable car to video the landscape so I can see the yard remotely while at work, etc;

right now, laying track down on the other side of the aqueduct rim, as you can see in the photo. Mortar will be layed between the rails so the track can be walked on like on the other side. Planning to run live steam.

You are amazing SE on whatever you are doing. I picture a computer robot soon taking over your train set up. Watch out for him in all that he learns from you and don't name him H.A.L :)
