I was looking at my pond last night and was surprised to see around 45 Emporer dragonfly casings on a small patch of bullrush along with around 9 who were in the process of emerging. I have, however, only seen 2 broad bodied chasers flying around my pond. Should I worry that there are so many Emporer dragonfly nymphs emerging but no visible in flight or is it normal that they immediately migrate or 'rest' somewhere else. My pond is 5mx 5m and 2 years old in the southwest of the UK. Any help and advice is much appreciated.
