I was removing dead plant life from my pond and I found this attached to a stalk... anyone know what it belongs to?

I don't think it's frog or toad spawn as that is much larger. I should have put something in there for reference, shouldn't I? Hang on, I'll go and have a measure...

It's about 2" long but I also noticed that that small group of 6 in the middle of the picture has moved along the stalk. I think they may be snails.

Could be snail eggs or some sort of water creature they dont look like fish eggs unless you have a sturgeon

I would place these in a bucket of water still attatched to the stem and let them hatch this way you will know what they are and also come back here and put me out of my misery (lol)

LOL They're in a bowl of pond water at the moment. As and when they get bigger, I'll take pictures and post :)

Found the culprit! I was cleaning the leaves of the water lily and found not only this snail, I also found another two egg sacs. It must have smuggled itself in on the plants I bought.
