I’m in the Caribbean and I recently started a few lotus plants (Nelumbo nucifera) in my pond. The lows here are 79 degrees in the winter although we do get earlier sunsets being close to the equator.

My question is for other gardeners in the Caribbean or Hawaii. what is your experience growing lotus and tropical water lily’s year round and do they actually need a winter dormancy period?
