May be there ought to be that for a new topic! I blew it ,with all the care and attempts at max filteration ETC !Late last fall ,I Allowed a distraction to Cause me to Effectively KILL all of my Goldfish ,I had just turned on the tap water to add about 50 gals of make up water, company came ,and you know the rest ,5 hrs later ,the massacre was found ,I was SICK ,after the funeral for 85 of our friends
,I was not in any mood to do anything more than shut everything down for the drain and winterize ,Spring has Sprung [sort of ] so am starting all over with 200 feeder goldies 100 in each unit ,I put 100 in the upper last week ,removed the winter 1/4'screen covers and set things up and running today ! Next week will add new batch to lower unit ,and start over ,and cull later ,many things to refresh and do ,First I have posted since the Massacre ,just lost interest for a while ,It was a lesson I will not forget ,company or no company !!

Very sorry to hear this bad news for you MF. Darn city water trying to keep us full of Chlorine/Chloromine! Fortunately we have well water that appears to be nice pond friendly water. Hope that won't happen to you again. Good luck w/ your new fishies!

Ugh. Sorry for your loss.

In trying to comfort ya, I read this happening alot to folk with city water... that is, they turn on the water to do a water change, got distracted, and came back to bad news. It really does happen more than ya think. Next time, put a water timer on that hose! ;)

Best wishes for the new fish! :)

:( Sorry to hear about your fish. That would be hard to loose that many fish all at once. I have a well with really good water I'm so glad that I don't have to use city water.

OMG I am so sorry!!! I know this wont make you feel any better, but we've done it too. Hubby did it a couple of times last summer, and I made him tell me, and set a timer each time after that (so between the two of us, the hose wouldnt get forgotten again)...In his case, the hose was only on an hour or so longer than it should have been. HE never had anything bad happen. Both times HE did it. I went out there and added a bunch of start right ... Then in Decemeber, I f'd up all by my self... Pond was a few inches low... turned the hose on, and even set the timer ... THEN I WENT OUT ... I left here about 10 am ... On my way home about 5:30 pm, I remembered that I did NOT shut the hose off ... So upset, I was expecting to find them all dead when I got back, I FORGOT to put start right in when I got back too... Next morning, one of my larger koi was gone... everyone else was okay, but that was luck and I know it. I'll be SITTING NEXT TO THE HOSE IN THE FUTURE,
