Hi, all! After a nasty bout with parasites last spring after adding new fish to my pond, I've learned my lesson the hard way about quarantining new fish. So, I'd like to setup a small quarantine pond on my deck this year (inside the house is not an option), but I'd also like it to be aesthetically pleasing at the same time. To me, a huge Rubbermaid tub sitting in the corner of my deck is not going to look nice, so I was looking at large, decorative planters, which are pricey. Aquascape also sells a large "deck pond" that is perfect, but for the 3 foot diameter version they want over $400! Does anyone have any ideas to share that would save me some $$$$$? Thanks!

That is a really good idea! I set my pond up last year added my comets, then a few weeks later added a couple shubies. I noticed not long after my fish had anchor worms. With a 5000 gallon pond, and over 40 fish catching them and removing the worms was not an option. So I had to treat the entire pond :( I hope I got rid of them all.

I am not as far as what to use for your tank, maybe a half a wine barrel. Keep us posted on what you use.

yep wood would work but have to know what you are doing ,even retaining wall block works .I have a 150 gallon stock tank and love it for plants ,I got mine at auction though .I even quarantine my plants and anything that goes in the pond gets cleaned or soaked in peroxide you never know about pots or plants or even rocks .

Addy has a nice deck pond and you could make a larger version of it for bigger fish. Make sure your deck can stand the weight as water is quite heavy!

We added some extra support below the deck pond, 6x6 from deck to ground, the pond is also built on the corner, where there is naturally more support. The pond is built out of 4x4's glued and screwed together. Then a piece of epdm bought at lowes or home depot can't recall, which was around 100 bucks. The whole project cost around 150 and some time.

you can get a 300 gallon INTEX "snapset" pool at WALMARTS for about $15.00.....and fold it up and put it away when your done! or T.S.C (tractor supply company) has 110 gallon TUFF STUFF stocktanks for $60.00 if your not buying larger fish....
*** the pools measure about 6' round and 18" deep

The only thing is put a net over the top and weigh it down incase fish get frisky and decide to jump .The more shallow it is the warmer the water will get and the faster .You can check out auctions in your area at auction zip .com and maybe find one on a auction list .
