I would put it on one of the shelves in my pond up on some bricks so only a few inches of the pot is submerged

I doubt that will work out very well . now impatience or hostas but keep the crown above water and watch them explode in growth

Yeah I"m with @GBBUDD - I grow lots of types of coral bells (heuchera) and while most varieties thrive in shade, they don't appear to enjoy water like a hosta does.

However, if you have an extra plant and want to give it a try, why not? You never know!
