I've been redoing my filter system and was considering purchasing an inline pump instead of a submerged pump. In looking around, I see pool pumps as readily available in my price point. Anyone have comments on using them?

they use more electric and not sure that a pool pump could hold up to a fish pond and waste removal

I've heard they don't work well w/ponds but I have no experience in trying them myself.

I had my sisters inline from her swimming pool she took down after her kids grew up and left home and my pump had went out and back then I could not get a pond pump around here and had to order one from harbor freight and used it as a pond pump ,it lasted 3 days and almost burned out as it got clogged up and then I cleaned and cleaned for 10 days until my new one came in .I saw my electric use go up and used my watt tester and it was high but had no options at that time but to use it .

I only use submersible's but some here use the externals. I hear Sequence, Dragon and Easy Pro brands mentioned.

Like it’s been mentioned they are power guzzlers. A typical 1/2 hp pool pump burns close to 600 watts. They move a fair bit of water but a jecod dc18000 will move nearly as much and only uses 130 watts. And cost less to buy..you can run them submerged or inline too

Pool pum manufacturers expect 12 hour a day usage not the 24/7 with a pond
