i think almost everyone here will tell you liner is the way to go... easier, faster, more versatile, usually easy to repair, and way more forgiving in colder climates(wont crack with ground freezing) and cheaper!!

My uncle (lives in southern cali) has a 8,000 gal concrete pond. He said the only downside was that the algae loves the concrete because it is warm. I think it looks nicer but would NEVER try it up here where it freezes.

HUH? yours looked like a liner. Or is it a fiberlcass insert...which is sort of different. Or you fiberglassed over your hole? What kind of resin? Epoxy or polyester? Must be epoxy if the fish are still alive and it is waterproof. expensive.

My pond is actually a freestanding black fiberglass pond. Sort of like a hot tub. I bought it at my local water garden shop. I have not seen one like it since.

My old pond is a oval liner pond with lots of folds.
My new pond will be concrete block spray coated with polyurea.
