Cleaning day-for the pond

Well I decided today was as good a day as any to clean the pond. (There's dark music playing in the back ground to that comment) lol.
Pulled out all the filtering in waterfall and added more lava rock, more filter pads, and a couple tupperwares of small gravel, batting, little carbon, little barley. All the good stuff. Then came splitting plants and draining a small percentage of water.
Best part of all of this..ITS DONE.
Hopefully I will have some happy fish! I know I will have some happy bushes, they recv'd the old water. Oh the circle of life. Haha

You are one of the lucky ones w/ nice enough weather to tackle the cleaning project. Where do you live and can we see your pond? Yep your bushes are liking you right now for the free food. Glad you got it done...........well never done, there is always a next time

I live in Colorado. I'll have to get a pic up. I wanted to get that part done before I start redoing everything else. Lol.

Now that you have it all prettied up yes you will have to show us some photos. So is it warm there now in Colorado or did you have to freeze your butt off to get the pond clean?

Sunny but still cold. So, it was a fake warm day. For Colorado, it worked.

I almost feel bad putting that pic up...I need to redo the bamboo behind it and so on. Not at its best so early in the year. However, progress has begun

Welcome! And I was too busy looking at the pond to notice the bamboo. Lol! Then I spent a minute looking for a bamboo plant to figure what you were talking about ..... Lol! So its not too bad.

I love the way you have plants placed around that you really can't tell where the pond ends or begins. I'm trying to achieve that.

Very nice pond and don't worry winter does a # on all our ponds w/ no plants growing and everything looking barren.
I see your nice Iris plants are sprouting up. Those plants are so great for sucking up excess nutrients in the pond keeping it nice and clean. Nice big waterfall and lots of cool rocks.................we love rocks here a lot as you will notice

Thanks. The bamboo was to deter neighborhood children. Hoping to get the wooden fence up this summer so then I will have a clean backdrop.
I have salvia and bearded purple iris around the pond..the iris in the pond are all yellow. So I get yellow, purple, and some oranges.

Nice pond! I also did a few thing for my pond today...the water is pretty warm now I don't freeze my hand when reaching in the water anymore
