Has anyone used Clay in their ponds... if so what do you think about it. I just purchased some of the Ultimate Koi Clay and plan on using it two to three times a week but figured I would check to see if any of you have used it and what your opinion is on it. Thanks...

it's a preference thing. there is good data on the nutrients that clay provides by absorption through the gills. we think our school is healthier, but i can't prove it, so we just go with the science and use it. i'm not sure if you can definitively prove one clay better than another. the only caveat is not to use kitty litter clay because of the additives.

I don't have koi, just out of curiosity, is the pure clay cat litter ok? The real cheap stuff has no additives, according to the package it is just clay.

Thanks

i know folks who use it with no apparent problems. i suspect that clay in your back yard works just fine so long as there are no pollutants in it, after all, our local koi farm with a national reputation does exactly that when he boards someone's champion koi in his mud ponds, it becomes personal preference since none of us are chemists or scientists with data. my backyard clay has gotten into my pond, not planned i assure you, and the koi school survived just fine.
